Taping an ankle for return to sport

Research has shown that taping and/or bracing can significantly reduce the risk of recurrent Lateral Ankle Sprains by 62%. It is currently recommended that a brace be worn on the injured ankle, or that it is taped for every game and training session for at least 6 months following the initial ankle sprain injury.

Click here to watch our Physiotherapist Matt demonstrate how to tape an ankle for return to sport. This ankle taping is commonly used to give support for return to sport after ankle ligament sprains, ankle fractures and ankle dislocations.

Watch Matt as he tapes an ankle step by step, starting from where to put the tape, which direction to put the tape and the best type of tape to use.
