ACL knee injuries account for 30% of all netball injuries every year.

When an athlete under the age of 18yrs ruptures their ACL (knee ligament) their recovery can take up to 2 years before returning to sport.

  • Females are 4-6 times more likely to injure their ACL than males
  • The highest risk group are girls aged 15-18 years
  • Return to sport can take up to 2 years
  • Only 40% return to pre-injury level of sport.
  • In 2014 the equivalent total of 415years was spent on ACL rehabilitation amongst Australian netballers.
